Morgan Currie
Morgan Currie is a Lecturer in data and society in science, technology and innovation studies at the University of Edinburgh. Her research and teaching interests focus on open and administrative data, algorithms in the welfare state, activists’ data practices, civil society and democracy, social justice and the city, and participatory mapping.
She is principal investigator of The Culture & Communities Mapping Project and co-lead of the Digital Social Science Research Cluster at Centre for Data, Culture & Society.
Prior to her Lectureship she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Digital Civil Society Lab at Stanford University. She earned a PhD in information studies from University of California, Los Angeles (2017) and a Masters in new media from the University of Amsterdam (2010).
