SJ Bennett

 

SJ Bennett is a PhD researcher at the Edinburgh College of Art. In addition to their work with Experiential AI, they are a research assistant with the INTUIT project and runs the Edinburgh-based AI Ethics & Society group.

In their PhD research they take a practice-based ethics perspective to study the ethics of AI system design and development, using interviews and ethnography to understand AI specialists' values and their accounts of navigating the ethical and social impact of their work.

Previous to starting their PhD, They did a BA in Linguistics and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence. They then worked as a data analyst for the NHS. Their main research interests lie at the intersections between emerging technologies, moral psychology, design justice, moral philosophy and human-computer interaction.
